Welcome to Lake Okeechobee Florida
Okeechobee is located in Central Florida bordering Lake Okeechobee and Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, Osceola, Highlands, and Glades Counties. Okeechobee County was named for the lake, which is named for an Indian term for "big water". Okeechobee County, consisting of 774 square miles of land, is centrally located from the east and west coasts of Florida on the north shore of famous Lake Okeechobee and bordered on the west by the Kissimmee River.
